Ask The Experts: Canton Racing Products Opens Up For Your Questions

Two of the most important systems in an engine are the oiling and cooling systems. Without a robust oiling system, your engine will not be long for this world, as improper or insufficient lubrication will eventually lead to failure — usually in a fairly catastrophic manner. Your cooling system is similarly important, as without a method of sufficiently removing heat from your system, you’ll be lucky if all that is affected is engine performance. Unchecked, at a certain point, elevated engine temperatures can cause excessive thinning and breakdown of oil, and lead to the aforementioned catastrophic engine failure. Luckily, Canton Racing Products focuses on both of those systems

As you’ve seen, we’re using Canton products on Project LS5.0, and once the engine goes into a car, we’ll likely be partnering with them to design a coolant expansion and recovery system for the platform, which we’ll reveal more of further down the road. Since Canton doesn’t just focus on stock replacement parts, but custom-fabricated ones as well, they are the perfect source for this installment of Ask The Experts.

Canton Oil Pan on EngineLabs Project LS5.0

The Canton road race oil pan is fitted to LS5.0 in order to not just contain the oil, but to help control windage, which is no small task at 8,000 rpm.

We want to give you, the readers, a chance to ask Canton your questions about oiling and cooling system components directly. Canton’s newest Marketing Coordinator, Christian Goncalves, is here to answer your questions. A lifelong automotive enthusiast and proud owner of a minty low-mileage ’99 Acura Integra, Christian’s automotive passion was sparked at a young age by countless hours watching Top Gear. He has future plans for his Integra, but the stock, untouched car still holds a special place in his heart. We appreciate the love for a stock classic, but we absolutely plan to be a bad influence on him, especially on the engine side.

Christian’s background in motorsports and his experience at Canton Racing Products make him an excellent source of knowledge, even when the questions get a little unconventional. If you have anything you’ve been curious about, send your questions to [email protected] and we’ll pass them along to Christian for his expert insight. The question period will be open for 30 days, closing Friday, May 16th 2025. We’ll bring you the answers shortly thereafter!

In addition to oiling system components, Canton makes high-end cooling system components for street and race vehicles.
