The 65th annual Grand National Roadster Show held at the L.A. County Fairgrounds in Pomona, California, is one of the largest and most prestigious car shows in the country, so one can expect a wide variety of engines to go along with the quality of vehicles on display. EngineLabs walked a good portion of the show, looking for the most interesting and eye-catching powerplants we could find under the hoods. Car builders were quite innovative in their presentation, ranging from hardcore rust-chic all the way up to precision billet. We found all makes and models, 2-cylinder up to 12-cylinder, blown and injected, N/A and turbo, and even a couple model-car engines that if you don’t have a really sharp eye you could easily mistake them for the real deal. Some were finished, dyno tested and ready to run. Others were dressed for show, and even a few were in various stages of build. All were cool in some form or manner.
