When it comes to iron cylinder heads, World Products is a name that is always at the top of everyone’s mind, as they’ve been in the cast-iron cylinder head business for a long time — over 30 years. So it’s no surprise that they are continuing to develop the products that put them on the map.
Recently, World Products announced that its venerable Merlin line of iron big-block Chevrolet cylinder heads will now be available in a fully CNC-ported configuration. The first release — P/N: 030630CNC — is a 26-degree BBC head, with a 365cc CNC intake runner, 128cc CNC-profiled combustion chamber, along with 2.350-inch intake and 1.880-inch exhaust valves.
All of those features combine for some serious airflow, with peak intake flow numbers of 432 cfm at .900-inch of valve lift and 316 cfm on the exhaust side. “These heads are perfect for marine and pulling applications, combining the durability of cast iron with the power of CNC-machined ports,” says World’s Jack McInnis. “They also work well for big-cube, high-RPM bracket racing engines.”
The porting itself is being performed by renowned cylinder head porting outfit HVH, which has tons of experience in the top tiers of a wide variety of motorsports. Additionally, the heads are completely made in the USA, which is a source of pride for the team at World Products. Now, making huge power doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg.
