SEMA 2019: LS And Late-Model Hemi Engine-Swap Oil Pans From Milodon

If you are building a classic hot rod that is benefitting from a late-model engine swap, have you figured out your oiling system? Let’s face it, the stock oil pan on these engines will not typically fit a classic chassis. That’s where Milodon comes in to save the day.

Let’s say you want an oil pan for your LS swap that is designed to offer the best oil supply when used in high-performance applications. Milodon’s Pro-Touring LS pans are a great alternative for those enthusiasts needing a new low-profile oil pan. This pan offers a 6-quart capacity — even with the ultra-low-profile design that is only 5 1/2-inches deep. It holds two more quarts than the factory LS pan and still gives you more ground clearance. All this while utilizing an interior trapdoor system that keeps the oil from sloshing around — even during the hardest right- and left-hand turns.

The LS pan allows you to use the block-mounted billet filter block (shown) or a remote-mount unit.

The Pro-Touring pan fits LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, and LS7 engines, and fits many GM chassis, including the Corvette. The LS pan uses a block-mounted billet oil-filter block or can be used with a remotely mounted filter by running -AN fittings and lines to an off-engine-mounted filter mount. This will allow you to run either the factory oil filter or a ’70s-style filter. Milodon also offers a pick-up tube, windage tray, pan bolts, gaskets, and other accessories you might need.

If your swap involves all things late-model Hemi, Milodon didn’t forget you. Engine oiling is critical with these engines, especially since the engine oils the valvetrain first, and then directs the lifeblood to the bottom end. To provide the necessary lubrication to this engine, the Milodon pan — designed around the Challenger Drag Pak Stock Eliminator platform, utilizes a rear sump and a windage tray that doubles as a crank scraper, delivering great oil control. The late-model Hemi already has one of the best oil return designs of any Chrysler engine, and combine that with the Milodon components, proper oiling and scavenging of oil will be ensured.

This new Milodon pan allows the late-model Hemi engine to be installed in many A-, B-, C-, and E-body cars.

The Milodon pan allows the new, high-tech Hemi to be installed in 1959 through 1974 A-, B-, C-, and E-body cars. If using a crate engine, it’s known the Mopar crate engines come with a rear sump pan, that might not fit in mid-sump muscle cars. The Milodon pan provides a custom fit around the K-member and drag link, and the increased oil capacity and oil control are an absolute requirement to handle the demands of higher RPM and increased horsepower. Oil control baffles subdue unwanted oil movement, which results in consistent oil pressure and increased power output. This pan uses the stock dipstick location on the side of the block. While a stock windage tray can be used, the Milodon version is improved and will yield better oil control and power output.
