SEMA 2019: Melling’s New High Performance Oil Pump For LS Engines

Oil is the lifeblood of every engine— without it, everything stops. How you handle that oil is just as important as what type, viscosity, and brand of oil you choose. While most people might not put much thought into the performance side of pumping oil, thankfully, there are companies that put a LOT of thought into that very thing.

We stopped by Melling’s booth at the SEMA Show to check out its new high-volume, high-performance oil pumps for LS engines. Designed for performance engines based on the 5.3-, 6.0-, and 6.2-liter engines, the pumps feature a 20-percent higher volume than factory pumps and include a 10-plus psi pressure relief spring already installed.

Melling’s new high-volume pump is hard-coat anodized to protect it from wear and features a 20-percent increase in flow from factory units.

There is also a factory pressure spring and 20-plus psi spring included in the kit. The aluminum housing is hard-coat anodized against wear and utilizes a threaded pressure relief nut. The unit uses a 7/8-inch diameter, bolt-on pickup tube assembly and the O-rings for the pickup tube are included. Check with your local Melling Engine Parts dealer or go to Melling’s website to see more about its high-performing parts for your engine.
