When it comes to drag racing, it’s not the type of car you drive or on what track you drive it on that really matters. Rather, it’s the car’s performance components and just how well you do in competition. AEM Performance Electronics recognizes this and was just recently a part of some pretty impressive feats at venues across the county including three championship wins by Prayoonto Racing at the World Cup Finals at MIR and a record-breaking run by the team behind AEM’s Series-2 EMS powered dragster. Congratulations goes out to all parties.

Started in 2000, Prayoonto Racing is the brain child of Norris Prayoonto. Over the years, Prayoonto has acquired more and more drag cars, resulting in the four-car team that now dominates tracks all over the country.

Topping off this season, Prayoonto took three of his AEM EMS-equipped cars (a Pro Stock All Motor Civic, Sport FWD Integra and the All Motor Civic) to the World Cup Finals at Maryland International Raceway only to walk away with three championship titles. On top of that, the drivers behind each car also each broke records, with Prayoonto hitting an 8.92-second quarter mile at 153mph in the Pro Stock Civic, Saul Salceda hitting an 8.62-second quarter mile at 178mph in the Integra, and Prayoonto’s girlfriend Loan Nguyen hitting a 9.93-second quarter mile at 139mph in the other Civic. AEM EMS systems also played a role in the record-setting run of Jack Costella, Rick Yacoucci and Mike Waters in their AEM Series-2 EMS powered C/FS car (this class allows for up to 372ci engines, and requires naturally aspirated setups and the vehicles to be Methanol burning streamliners). Costella, Yacoucci and Waters set the new record for their class at an amazing 258mph.
