Long known for its line of sport compact intakes, Injen Technology has not only been dabbling in additional products, like exhaust systems and intercooler piping, but completely new markets, like diesel and off-road applications

“The Chevy Duramax Diesel is a brand-new application for us,” says Adrian Ornelas, Product Developer for Injen. “It picks up like 30 horsepower and 70 lb-ft of torque with our intake and exhaust. That’s the good thing about the Duramax. They are a little tricky, but once we put the time into it we got great gains.”

Injen is also developing products for gasoline-powered trucks and Jeeps. “The Jeep Wrangler JL intake and exhaust is another big hit for us,” says Ornelas. “We kind of went different this year, showing towards trucks. We are mostly known for sport compact intakes, but we’ve been having some great reactions from people when they see Injen’s truck applications.”

Those positive reactions are probably because the product development team has brought the same level of testing and effort that made them so popular in the sport compact arena, into all of their other endeavors. “We manufacture and build everything in the U.S. We spend countless hours of development so that we can get everything perfect, down to the last detail,” Ornelas explains.

“That’s no easy task with today’s OE vehicles being so efficient from the factory. Trying to pull out more takes additional R&D time. It’s more than just bending a tube and sticking a filter on the end of it. We need to address things like proper packaging in the vehicle, charge velocities throughout the system, and then what the engine actually wants as opposed to what the computer models might say.”

While Injen is expanding into new markets, they certainly aren’t letting their original bread and butter slip by the wayside. They have developed a full line of components for the new Honda Civic Type R, from the the intake system, all the way back to the exhaust tips.
