Over the last several years, AEM Performance Electronics has been hard at work expanding its product line to offer serious solutions for the hardcore racer, while also entering markets the company hasn’t previously tapped.
One new offering for 2016 is the company’s dash display and data logger; it uses Instant Recognition Graphics (IRG) technology that offers super-high resolution and good contrast to make it easily visible in all race conditions.
GPS Positioning And Accelerometer
Another interesting item the company now offers is a Vehicle Dynamics Module that includes a three-axis gyro, three-axis accelerometer, and GPS positioning for accuracy when used as a track mapper. This product interfaces seamlessly with the company’s Infinity engine management system and can also be used with the company’s AQ-1 data logger system.
The sealed aluminum enclosure uses a Deutsch DTM connector, and the dash works with most existing CAN-bus networks. In addition, there is 200MB of data logging capability built right in. The unit only needs power, ground, and CAN inputs.
New gauges have also appeared in the catalog for the upcoming year. The X-Series digital gauges offer dramatically improved readability through the use of an 87 percent larger four-digit LED display and sweep “needle” that lines the edge of the gauge.
Gauge mounting dimensions have been drastically reduced, although the gauges faces are 33 percent larger than AEM’s other digital gauges. There are 12 gauges in the lineup, ranging from boost/vacuum to a GPS speedometer.
