PRI 2017: Intercomp’s New Thermal Imager With Image Recording

Along with a host of new electronic tool and devices intended to make very step of building and campaigning a racecar that much easier, the team at Intercomp have revealed a brand new Thermal imager here at PRI, which will come in handy for automotive aficionados of every walk — be it Sunday drivers, drag racers, or even those building engines.

The Thermal Imager sports a 2.4-inch high-resolution screen and has a temperature range of -4  to 575 degrees Fahrenheit (20-300 C), with accuracy within 2 percent and .25 F sensitivity.

a set of crosshairs on the screen can provide real-time temperature readings as you move it around, but if a reading for posterity’s sake is needed — for example, you want to send a reading off to your engine builder or tuner for analysis— you can save a still image of the scan to a MicroSD can and send it off by pulling the trigger.

“If you’re looking to see if you have a cylinder out or something, a device like this is a must. You can also look at tire temperatures and what the profile across the tire looks like. This would even be valuable for checking track temperatures or track conditions,” says Intercomp’s Aaron Van Heel.

The Thermal Imager, unveiled at SEMA and available to market now, runs on 4 AA batteries for power.
