Just when you thought Lucas Oil had the entire market covered, the oil and additive manufacturer hones in on another area of the automotive market that needs a premium lubricant. At this year’s PRI tradeshow, Don Corsette displayed Lucas’ new Hot Rod Oil designed specifically for Hot Rods and Classic Cars.
“It’s a premium lubricant made from paraffinic base oils fortified with an additive package that contains high levels of zinc, molybdenum and phosphorus – the stuff that these older muscle cars were designed to use,” says Corsette. “This oil and additive package provides a tougher, thicker film for maximum protection.”
According to Corsette, “Our new Hot Rod and Classic Car motor oil helps lower the engine temperature, extend the oil life and minimizes metal fatigue. It stands up to higher temperatures in extreme conditions and is compatible with methanol and all racing fuels.”
While it was designed for muscle, showroom, classic and trophy cars without catalytic converters, Corsette says, “It can be used in racing applications.”
“We test these products thoroughly before bringing them to the market,” he adds, “and our goal was to design an oil for the older muscle cars and hot rods that get driven. Not just an oil for showcars that see very little actual street time. This oil was made for the car enthusiast that uses his car.”
Corsette explains, “Because of the recent regulations that lowered the amount of zinc and phosphates in oil, there was a gap in lubrication of older, flat tappet engines. This oil fills that void and helps keep flat tappet engines safe.”
