PRI 2012: Livernois Introduces 3.5-Liter EcoBoost Built Short Block

The direct-injected EcoBoost engines have been proven powerhouses right out of the factory. They are extremely durable, reliable, and produce astonishing torque numbers. For those that are looking to take a big next step, Livernois Motorsports has you covered with their new EcoBoost 3.5-liter built short block.

We have already made 440awhp and 520 lb/ft of torque on an SHO with larger compressor wheels, intake, tune, and exhaust. – Rick Leblanc

“We have already made 440awhp and 520 lb/ft of torque on an SHO with larger compressor wheels, intake, tune, and exhaust,” said Rick Leblanc. “We can’t wait to install this short block to see what the next level can bring.” The current short block retains the factory 10:1 compression ratio, and there has even been some talks to increase that to 11:1!

The custom made pistons feature Livernois’ dome and shirt coatings, which are found on most of their other short block builds. The rods are custom made by Carrillo as no current aftermarket companies mass produce these yet. The stock factory forged crankshaft is retained as well. “The SHO and Flex engine bays are really tight, which makes turbo upgrades hard to do without a custom built turbo system,” said Leblanc. Well we all hope that someone steps up to the plate to show exactly how stout the “big block” EcoBoost engine can be.

Livernois Motorsports is one of the leading companies in EcoBoost technology, “We have tuned over 1300 EcoBoost F-150s, 600 Taurus SHO/Flexs, and currently are the only shop that can tune the 2013 Taurus SHO/Flex,” explained Leblanc.
