Dailey Engineering is well regarded as one of the leading high-end oiling system and component manufacturers in the racing industry, supplying parts to NASCAR, dirt track, off-road racing, drag racing, and sports car teams, along with virtually all other forms of auto racing teams. Owned and operated by Bill Dailey, Dailey Engineering produces parts that deliver in the most demanding of environments, and an example of that quality on display here at the PRI Show is their new six-stage billet aluminum sprint car oil pump, designed with the space and weight constraints of a sprint car in mind.
As a six-stage and very low friction pump, it features five scavenge stages in a very short package, due to the limited space in front of and around the engine in one of the ultra-compact and very simplistic race cars.
Size aside, it’s what’s inside and what leads out of this pump that really makes it interesting. Housed within is Dailey Engineering’s unique billet roots-style helical rotors that reduce weight by up to 25% over conventional style gears. They also provide up to 50% more volumetric capacity, greater sealing, and unmatched crankcase vacuum efficiency. Another unique feature is the integrated hose ends that resemble a set of exhaust headers, which will swivel to allow you to route the hoses in tight confines.
Dailey Engineering boasts hundreds of oil pump designs in their archives for all forms of applications, which are available for viewing on their website at daileyengineering.com. In addition to oil pumps in a myriad of designs and stage layouts, Dailey also manufactures billet oil pans and oil system accessories, meaning they can equip virtually any type of race car with a hardcore oil system.
