They say that bootleggers were the inspiration for NASCAR, and while it may be more mythical than factual, the one thing that the two have in common are going fast, and building engines to do so. To build power, the camshaft is the heart of the matter, and no matter how big your engine is, the wrong camshaft can keep your engine from reaching its potential.
Lunati has released their teaser for installment #3 of their Bootlegger Camshaft videos, and with red and blue flashing light, a curious kid, and a classic Chevy behind the garage door, the teaser lets us know, “Every man’s life ends the same way,” and that the details are what distinguish us from one another.
Likewise, the new Bootlegger Camshafts are designed to make a difference, with a 108-degree love separation and 104-degree intake centerline. What that means for your engine is lots of low and mid-range power where you need it most, and an aggressive exhaust note.
While Bootlegger Cams will provide a little more of a race cam on the exhaust side, they still maintain suitable street manners for cruising on the intake side. The cams are available in hydraulic flat-tappet and roller versions, and also include retro-fit hydraulic roller kits.
If you missed part one or part two, be sure to check them out and we’ll bring you part three when the Bootlegger Series continues. It’s a helluva lot better than the Kardashians. Check out the Lunati website for more information on the Bootlegger Cams, and if you’re at SEMA… stop by!
