JE Pistons: Peek Inside the Process Behind Custom Racing Pistons

JE Pistons [1] has been one of the premiere suppliers of racing pistons for over 70 years. They also supply race winning technology packaged for the performance enthusiast through their SRP and SRP Professional line of automotive pistons, making their variety of shelf-stock pistons one of the largest available today. Custom designs are taken from concept to completion through a streamlined process that takes place in its entirety on US soil.

JE was formed off the need for high performance forged pistons to support the increasing horsepower in the 1940s. Cast versions were no longer sufficient in performance engines of the day. JE pioneers had to rise to the occasion to stay ahead. The same innovation and out-of-the-box thinking makes them who they are today.

JE strives for the best parts by focusing heavily on the engineering and development process. The process continues until engineers are satisfied with the product. Shelf product has approximately ten versions that go through testing and validation prior to being provided to the end user to find the best possible product. JE claims to have the largest selection of off-the-shelf racing pistons anywhere.

Not only does JE have thousands of shelf stock pistons, but they also offer custom piston designs that can be developed from scratch. With a customer base in all forms of racing from circle track, drag race, sport compact and even power sports, customers bring ideas that sometimes spark something even greater. JE engineers work with OEM partners and race teams to keep up with the latest technologies. The benefits trickle down to the performance enthusiast through the SRP line of pistons as well.

The entire process is also completed in the USA, making the product 100% American made. Material is received from New Jersey and the remaining processes from engineering to forging and final machining is completed between locations in Ohio and California.

JE [2]’s sales staff is dedicated to making sure their clients get what they need for their race application. They also pride themselves on doing this in a timely and accurate fashion. Custom piston designs can be completed in as little as two weeks.
